The story of our community

Klaipeda region Muslim community “Iman” was established in 2010 and marked a pioneering moment as the first Muslim congregation in the biggest port city of Lithuania. Initially, members convened for Jumuah prayers within the modest confines of a restaurant’s conference room. These early days saw sparse attendance, with occasions where the community leader found himself praying alone.

By 2012, the community had taken a step forward by leasing a small office space, transforming it into a prayer room. It marked the beginning of a remarkable growth trajectory; attendance at Jumuah prayers swelled from a handful of participants in 2015 to 30 by 2022, and impressively reaching 70 in 2023. Notably, the recent Eid prayers have consistently attracted over 200 worshippers

During this year our community saw yet another upgrade as we rented a spacious 200 square meters premises adapted for an Islamic center needs. Now we are capable to deliver Jumuah services for more than 150 people every Friday, have opened our center for daily prayers, and even started children and adult classes on Islamic subjects.
